Students in this program will be organized in cohorts of learners in similar grades. Instruction will focus primarily on literacy and numeracy; however, additional learning concepts, skills and standards will also be integrated.
Weekly learning activities will include a variety of self-paced activities, scheduled online lessons and class meetings and student choice learning. Teaching and learning will resemble the remote learning model adopted by many schools when the suspension of in-class instruction occurred.
Our elementary program for students in Kindergarten to grade 5 is a new program. We are responding to the needs of our community at this time. Our teachers are working collaboratively to create a schedule that is consistent, easy to follow and most importantly, supportive of young learners. We aim to provide a preliminary weekly schedule by Friday, September 11th.
Program orientations will begin the week of September 14th. Classroom teachers will contact parents/guardians to arrange a one-on-one virtual meeting with students. Regularly scheduled instruction will begin the week of September 21st.
